Hello and welcome to another edition of the morning xp boost, we're your hosts Tox and glitch, and we're here to talk games and stuff and give you the experience that you need to get through your gaming week glitch, how you doing today.

Glitch  0:57
Great. How are you tox.

Tox  0:59
I am so good. I'm so excited that our first episode was well received, and I can't wait to do more, like we're doing now.

Glitch  1:07
Same here. Can't wait. We ready to jump into the news,

Tox  1:12
let's jump into the news, why don't you kick us off.

Glitch  1:16
All right, so we just had a new season of fortnight kick off this morning. Whoo, yeah, the theme is invasion. And if you're a Rick and Morty fan Rick Sanchez, the man himself. The tier 100 skin, huh So, yeah, people are super excited. Aliens have arrived at the fortnight map. So,

Tox  1:43
yeah, invasion. So I think you were saying earlier, can you get abducted them.

Glitch  1:48
Yes, you can get abducted you can fly UFOs. Oh man, there's all kinds of new spacey weapons that you can use. That's awesome. Oh yeah it's pretty intense. You can run around the map abducting your friends and foes, like,

Tox  2:03
I love it I love it. I really like to be planes that they had during the last winter fest or whatever. So yeah, those were,

Glitch  2:12
they were blast

Tox  2:13
the UFOs are similar, I'm hoping

Glitch  2:16
there's something completely different, and they're, they're incredible. Let me tell you. Awesome.

Tox  2:22
So, I was reading about a Sega theme park. I guess there's already been a bunch of sort of indoor amusement parks slash arcades, down to this joy post spread. And, you know, basically it's like an arcade. Maybe you have one of these I had one of these growing up in the bowling alley where it's mostly arcades, I think mine had laser tag, but there's like one or two indoor roller coasters. And so it's that kind of thing and amusement park that could fit inside indoors. So, the report is that supposedly, you obviously have had these in Japan for a while, the report is that maybe they're coming to the UK, and potentially then North America. As soon as within six months to land in the UK, and you know it's not really clear if it would be the same style I imagine it would be the same style arcade with one or two, you know small roller coasters and indoors. You no one can dream it may also be like a big outdoor theme park kinda like the Nintendo Land that we got teased earlier in the year, which, which would be more of a tactile, bring in this case, bring the Mushroom Kingdom to life in, you know, in an outdoor theme park setting where you can sort of touch and interact with Mario and and friends. Something like that would be super cool for Sonic for if you were like, walking through emerald hills and collecting ring digital rings and stuff. I think it would be super cool. Oh yeah, yeah. So, I, I mean, if they opened one near me, or even in the same country as me. I think I would go, how about you,

Glitch  4:16
definitely, I would definitely be down for that. I love Sonic, it was one of my first side scrollers that I played besides of course, the Oh gee. Yeah, Mario. But I had a blast playing through even Sonic 3d which was on the PC, I don't think it was as well received, but it was super fun because they, they gave Sonic some more abilities, besides just his little rolly ball, and it was, it was really, it was a lot of fun.

Tox  4:48
Nice. Yeah and you know, it's Sonix 30th birthday this year, or within a year. I did not know that. Yeah. So, if this news kind of comes on the heels of some other Sonic hype, Obviously the anniversary itself, and the release of a commemorative Sonic ultimate, sorry, Sonic Colors Ultimate Edition video game that comes with a special collector's coin. So, lots of good Sonic news, Sega has also sort of been prominent in the arcade industry for a while. Nintendo to actually gather started in the arcades, which is, it's really fascinating story, but you know if you've ever been to an arcade, odds are that you've seen a House of the Dead game, for example, you know that zombie shooter where you've got a couple of guns, shooting at the screen shoot off the screen to reload. You know how it goes. That's, that's Sega and Sega has a whole line of arcade games that are still going strong, and have had them since the late 70s, early 80s So it's not totally off the wall first they get to have one of these indoors, the amusement park slash arcade type things, because they've been making arcades, for you know nigh on 30 years now.

Glitch  6:12
Yeah, I mean if, even if they just had a room full of House of the Dead series arcade shooters, I would definitely be down to visit that, that game. And I don't know if you remember area 51 The hottest shooter ever lady, what's the arcade Yeah. Did you ever be area 51 Or House of the Dead.

Tox  6:33
No, I always ran out of money before the games are over.

Glitch  6:37
I think I actually beat area 51 once and that the final level is just insane. Yeah. And then, of course, House of the Dead, if you didn't have somebody to play with you you weren't going to finish it. It's not a game that was meant to be played so low fat, definitely back. You've got to crank out those 25 cent tokens, until you've put in like $10 worth of money.

Tox  7:01
I know it's so true and I feel like that's one of the reasons why arcades lost their sort of dominance once consul's came out because you could go empty your wallet into an arcade or you could play 160 Dollar Game for 100 hours at home. What else happened in the news anything of note.

Glitch  7:20
All right so Twitch is the official streaming partner of E three. If you're interested in viewing all of the announcements live you'll be able to just go on Twitch. Follow the actual Twitch profile on on Twitch, and then you'll be able to watch all the latest news the releases they're actually gonna have some exclusive things on Twitch, that you won't be able to see anywhere else as well, because I know I G will be covering it. They'll have some live footage on AI G's website. IGN yet, but Twitch is going to have kind of exclusive rights to the streaming.

Tox  8:02
And we love Twitch, that's, that's no surprise there so I'm excited to watch it on Twitch, and through the official e three app two, there's one of those so let's see what that's all about. Definitely.

Glitch  8:16
Do we have anything in history to cover for, for this particular upcoming week. Yes, so

Tox  8:22
for items of notes, we have Earthworm Jim, which came out in 1994 original platform Sega Genesis, and oddly also came out this week in 2001, on the Gameboy Advance, we have Xenoblade Chronicles, which came out in 2010 on the we Mario Golf 1999 on the N 64, and a game that you might be familiar with fortnight on in 2018 for the Nintendo Switch, specifically came out this week in 2018, any of those strike your fancy glitch.

Glitch  9:01
Well, I think, you know, I actually started playing fortnight on Nintendo Switch back in 2018 so, that one, that one hits pretty close to home and that's a that's a game that is near and dear to me about you any of those strike your fancy.

Tox  9:20
All of them. But I got to go in chronological order, Mario Golf for me anyways 1999 Nintendo 64 This game really surprised me when I played it in its original form, because yes I'm that old. But, I mean, I was a teenager, a young teenager I didn't like golf, right. No offense to golf enthusiasts but at first glance golf is kinda boring you don't really get an appreciation for the intricacies and the strategies and golf, until you are 13 years old, and spend a summer playing Mario Golf on the N 64, which happens to be my story, oddly enough, I absolutely loved it. It had a great multiplayer mode. I played with my buddy I played this. And, you know, this was one of the Mario, like sports themed games that I feel they pretty much all have been really successful and really fun, you know you had Mario Tennis. In this same generation on the N 64, you eventually had Mario Strikers soccer game, and numerous others including the Olympics but we've also seen Mario Tennis, come to the switch. Recently, and Mario Golf is, you know, going to be released imminently on the switch. So these games, they, they capture the essence of the sport, really well, and they put that charming Nintendo spin on it. That is just so much fun. I love playing them.

Glitch  10:54
So I played my first experience with with Golf was actually Hot Shots Golf on the PlayStation. It was just Playstation and I think they renamed it ps1 Yeah. So that was my first experience that was back I think in late 90s Also I think maybe 97 is when Hot Shots Golf came out.

Tox  11:16
Yeah, somewhere around there. Golf sleeper hit, who knew.

Glitch  11:21
Yeah, it was a lot of fun, you know, and every time you give the ball a good whack if you had like if you were right there on the like the blue or purple bar, you got you got that ultimate hit the ball would catch on fire.

Tox  11:37
I don't know about you but there's a specific sound in Mario Golf when you got that perfect hit. It's just, it's, it's one of the best sounds, I've ever heard. It just is so satisfying.

Glitch  11:49
It really is. And then I think you know when you go to play golf, for the first time and you know you make a successful connection with the ball. You get that same kind of feel from real life as you do I think from a hot shots and and a Mario Golf, granted, you know, your ball doesn't catch on fire while it's in midair, which I think that would be pretty cool. But I'm sure you haven't

Tox  12:13
seen any golf glitch.

Glitch  12:17
I don't know if the the groundskeepers would really appreciate on fire balls landing all over the greens, and you know in the roughs for me specifically, the rough is more where I would be concerned because that's where my ball goes so

Tox  12:32
yeah I'd be fine because it would land in the sand trap, nothing.

Glitch  12:34
Go. Yeah,

Tox  12:38
so good. So do you have any experience with Earthworm Jim,

Glitch  12:44
not on the Gameboy Advanced I did, I think it was super Nintendo is where I saw it played. Okay, not, not on GameBoy Advance What about you.

Tox  12:54
Yeah, limited, limited experience but my friend had a Sega Genesis, and I would go over to his house and play this game, and I really loved how quirky, it was, you know, it was a little bit edgy, I guess at the time, which seems sort of charmingly naive to say now that a worm flinging boogers at aliens and cows would be considered edgy, considering the kinds of the variety of games we have now, but it was kind of edgy, it was super quirky is so so colorful. And who wouldn't want to play as a super buff, you know, space worm, shoot and boogers at people, that's just fine.

Glitch  13:38
That's a game that needs to be scheduled for remaster no official World Needs Earthworm Jim.

Tox  13:43
Or you say, Yeah, save, and then, you know, Xenoblade Chronicles, I'll just touch on it real quick. I love this game. My first exposure to is actually the deluxe edition on switch, so that's very recent. But, so 2010 You know, this game action adventure RPG, absolutely massive fantasy world to explore I mean you just had total free rein to run around, jump on everything jump off of everything to get where you needed to go on the map, and that degree of freedom is just so enjoyable, particularly when it's paired as it is in the deluxe edition with a few different fast travel options so that you're not stuck wandering and spending all your time just kind of looking for that one sort of hidden path that you need to progress through the game, so it super charming characters, incredibly, original story with these two sort of God like massive structures, locked in an epic battle the mechanics and the Bionis, and then they get frozen in time and then all life in this world springs from ether, and these two Bionis McManus gods, it's just super interesting super fun. Absolutely beautiful to look at. And so much variety in the gameplay. Awesome game, hands down.

Glitch  15:14
I would agree. I have played, I also my first exposure to it was Nintendo Switch. I haven't beaten the game yet, because I've been too busy going back and having a lot of fun rebuilding like the communities, you know,

Tox  15:29
colony six, yeah.

Glitch  15:31
Yes, so I've been rebuilding the colonies and I have, you know, I've been having so much fun doing that and just exploring the beautiful, the absolutely beautiful environments. I mean, there's one of the, the larger open areas that I can just get lost and explore for hours, super beautiful game. some play, it's a great game. The because the, the music is very relaxing, very inspiring to place you can just go and get lost. Yeah,

Tox  16:05
I'm a sucker too for the starry skies, they do a good job with the really colorful starry skies at night. Oh yeah, and that music. I just, I can't stop talking about this game. Yeah, I agree. The music is very relaxing in the overworld, but when you get into that battle, and the tension is high, that electric guitar riff kicks in, and I just lose it, that is so energizing it is so much fun to battle with that kind of music going on.

Glitch  16:35
It is, I'd really like to see is you know blades continue forward and maybe end up on you know other systems maybe branch out to PlayStation, Xbox, bring that IP out and maybe also include some, some Co Op, I think that would be incredible. And, you know, just continue to franchise.

Tox  16:55
That would be great. This one I believe is a Nintendo, original, so I wouldn't hold my breath for that, but I, as a recent own as a recently new owner of a PlayStation five, I am all for games, getting cross platforms, and on to the newest sort of

Glitch  17:15
awesomest graphics hardware, and congratulations on that. By the way, I know it takes a long time to track one of those down. So welcome to the PlayStation five club.

Tox  17:25
Thank you so much, I did none of the work. My wife got it for me as an early birthday present, and I love her for it. It's amazing. So that wraps up this week in gaming history. Now let's move on to our feature segment.

Glitch  17:47
Last week we talked a lot about E three and we're going to go ahead and continue our conversation this week as

Tox  17:55
well. So, I've been looking at Nintendo, we've got some rumors for a new Metroid Prime game. This has been in the works for a long time, announced in 2017. Hope it, we had hoped to see more footage of it. In the year since then. But supposedly It was started by one development company, Bandai Namco, despite the fact that the other Metroid Prime games in the series were made by Retro Studios. And then there was sort of silence on any updates and then I guess development restarted. Under Retro Studios, bringing it back to its home, and I'm just so excited for Metroid Prime Metroid Prime on the game queue. The first one was such a big deal. I mean it was the first 3d Metroid game. It brought you into a different perspective, giving you the first person, for the most part first person perspective, the different visors that you could use it really sort of flushed out Sammis as a character. Not to mention, face reveal for sadness, without, without armor and that that was a big deal right, getting more human, look at that character. And then that whole series trilogy, really in the mainline games Metro echoes and corruption. Really, I think was a huge hit. And the last release that we've seen was a trilogy Compendium on we you back in 2009. So it's been a minute, and we're due and I'm really hoping that we see some Metroid Prime. Do you have any experience with Metroid Prime glitch

Glitch  19:50
so yeah actually, it's the Metroid Prime on GameCube, I actually didn't own that game, I had a friend that owned it, I used to watch him play it, and I mean it was incredible. It's a game that we need. Yeah. We just need it you know it was, like you said it was, it was teased back in 2017 I think it was right. And then nothing. Silence radio silence. Right. You said the last real title that we had that was released was the trilogy back in 2009 for the Wii U, it's, it's a little past due for for another Metroid game. Yeah, Bethesda games creators of such things as all out, and Skyrim. So, Skyrim was released back in 2011. It's been on every system since it's on the PlayStation three it's on the PlayStation four, It's all the switch. I think it's even on the PlayStation five. It's been a couple years. Everyone has been ranting and raving and I think there was even a petition a little while, online, asking Bethesda games to please make Elder Scrolls six, we may file

Tox  21:19
in the streets, protests. Gosh darn it.

Glitch  21:24
Give us our Elder Scrolls six. It's been too long. It's an incredible game if you, that's another one if you haven't experienced that's a, that's a gaming icon right there that you have to experience. Elder Scrolls five Skyrim. It's, it's one of my guilty pleasures something that I like to do to kind of like, you know if I've had a busy day at work or something or I just need to unplug for a little while. I actually like to go into Skyrim. And I take pictures of the landscape with the Share, like your, your Share button. Yeah yeah cuz some of those, I mean, this game is, what, years old, and some of the scenery in Skyrim is just beautiful. There's different biomes that you can go experience. There's characters that you can talk to I, I've been playing it for at least six years I would say, and I still haven't. I still haven't explored everything there is to explore and I haven't done everything there is to do so incredible game for it to still be playable after that long Starfield thing.

Tox  22:37
Have you played Skyrim, by the way, tox Yeah, that we can just keep going, you're saying, Sky field, star,

Glitch  22:46
star field then. This is a secret project. Little is known about what Starfield is, except, except that it is Skyrim in space.

Tox  22:59
Oh my gosh. So, blowing my mind, that's,

Glitch  23:03
that's all we know right now about this, it's a super secret project that Bethesda games is working on only, you know, that's the only thing that has kind of leaked, is that this project is supposed to be Skyrim in space. We'll move on to Take Two Interactive, they're the owners of toilets like the parent company of Rockstar there and a whole bunch of other gaming companies to potentially, this is another big one. This could be a huge three Grand Theft Auto six Grand Theft Auto Five was released back in 2013 for the PlayStation three, and has since been on pretty much every console up to the PlayStation five, and the Xbox series X, Xbox One, that that's huge news. There's also a rumor that Grand Theft Auto Five might be coming to the Nintendo Switch. So,

Tox  24:02
those ports, like we were talking about, they just make so much sense. There is, I sometimes wonder with Nintendo, a, you know, Nintendo first party titles for sure, are sort of more family friendly more universal appeal, I wouldn't say that their kids games but lighter on the gore and violence and stuff like that, and GTA five is, well, it's not that. So I sometimes wonder if there's a mismatch between some of these pours on the Nintendo brand, and then wonder if maybe that's one of the reasons why we haven't seen that come to the Nintendo Switch, but at the same breath, they're not immune. That you know, they definitely have titles like that on their system and there is definitely an audience in the Nintendo ecosystem for those titles so I think it would be nice to see it on the switch.

Glitch  25:03
Yeah, I totally agree. I think what Nintendo right now is doing with port is phenomenal. The fact that they've opened up to third parties to allow them to port these games then bring it on, the more games, the better. You know, they brought over Borderlands did a phenomenal job with the Borderlands port. The Witcher three, which I will say if you haven't played the Witcher three, that's, that's even a little more. It's not family friendly in the least. Yeah, Grand Theft Auto Five at least censor some things. The Witcher is, well it's not censored at all, pretty much, I'll just say that was my, there's no censoring on the Witcher.

Grand Theft Auto Five on the switch, I could definitely see that happening you know it's on everything else, it's a PlayStation three game. Initially, and a lot of PlayStation three titles have made their way to switch, such as Skyrim. So theropod, I feel like this is a pretty natural progression, Borderlands for its potential that we might get a release date and a trailer for that. That's one of those game titles that you pretty much see a new game every three years, that studio. They, they must have the formula down, they just know what to do. There's also a Borderlands movie in the works, so I think we might possibly get a trailer.

Tox  26:39
I'm trying to imagine that, I can imagine the aesthetic for sure. But the I'm pretty excited or what style it's going to be. I know

Glitch  26:49
and actually they've, they've released a little bit of the cast. Let me see if I can, yeah, Borderlands movie cast.

Tox  26:58
I'm thinking something like conga lines of Deadpool, you know, as far as type of movie, and feel,

Glitch  27:07
oh I would, I would absolutely love that so here's some of the cast members that we've got on this movie, we've got Cate Blanchett, Jamie Lee Curtis, Kevin Hart. Kevin Hart. Yes. And then another heavy hitter that we're going to have on the on the on the movie is Jack Black, and he is reportedly playing claptrap. I am actually super excited. I love Borderlands, I love claptrap. He's one of my favorite gaming characters of all time he's sitting on my desk right now looking at me. I would love if they were able to get the blood stallion in there because that's, you know, these are all iconic characters that, like, they've changed the gaming universe here to stay.

Tox  28:03
Borderlands was one of the original looter shooters, right.

Glitch  28:07
Yeah, it was, and yeah, super unique and it stylization phenomena phenomenal characters just overall an incredible franchise. I feel like we can't get away without talking about Xbox. Of course, yeah. So they have two titles that they are reportedly going to be showing off, Addy three this year. One is Halo infinite, and the other is perfect dark. Perfect Dark. If you played on the Nintendo 64 I mean that was, that was the follow up to Goldeneye double oh seven

Tox  28:46
trying so hard not to squeal right. Perfect Dark so much right. Yeah,

Glitch  28:52
and now it's a Microsoft Exclusive. So fingers crossed that we see, you know maybe initially Perfect Dark will be a Microsoft Exclusive and then kind of do what Sony is doing and maybe move it over into PC and maybe eventually PlayStation, I think that would be incredible. It's great for the gaming community. And I mean it's great for their pockets. Halo infant yell, go ahead. Yeah.

Tox  29:16
Oh, as you say, I love perfect art so much and this studio behind the original game brear made so many great games you mentioned Goldeneye they made Goldeneye they made perfect dark, you know, Donkey Kong Country. That whole series on Super Nintendo, Donkey Kong 64 conquers bed for a day just like every game, Banjo Kazooie, that you've loved on the Nintendo 64 Chances are rare made it outside of Mario just an amazing team, and, you know, they sort of disbanded. Technically Microsoft bought them so that's why you saw Banjo Kazooie remasters on the Xbox digital shop. And now, perfect dark and I hope that I hope that they're able to continue that, that legacy and maintain that high bar because we'll. That was a good game

Glitch  30:11
Halo infinite though, you know, Halo, it being this this franchise that, like I said, everybody has experience with was met with a lot of backlash last year. This game has been hyped. It's a Halo game. And when the gameplay footage was shown. It looked as if it was run on original Xbox or Xbox 360 So very, very last gen graphics. There was actually a, like, it was a huge uproar about Halo infinite. So, what, what we're kind of expecting to see an E three this year is going to be those revisions that were based on the feedback. This title if it had been released in the, in what they showed last year. It would have completely flopped. No one would have purchased this title. If he thought Cyberpunks release was marred and was, was a hot topic, then Halo infinite would have probably superseded that it was. Yeah, so hopefully we get some revisions, so we should have a new trailer and new gameplay shown at the sea three.

Tox  31:32
So that about wraps up our E three preview.

Glitch  31:36
Next week, we'll be covering part one of our analysis of E3.

Tox  31:41
I can't wait, it's going to be so much fun. Thank you so much everybody for joining us this has been the morning xp boost with your hosts Tox and Glitch. We'll see you next time.

Glitch  31:51
Take care.
